Pay: $20 – $30/hour (based on experience and education)
Job Type: Part-time | Fixed-term contract (3–9 months)
Job Overview
Calalta Learning is seeking dedicated and passionate tutors to join our educational team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following subjects: French, English, Math, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Spanish, Economics, Engineering courses, French Immersion, or FSL. Tutors will work with children, teens, and adults to help them achieve their academic goals while fostering a positive learning environment. Teaching certification is an asset but not required. Reliable transportation is essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring tailored to individual student needs
- Create personalized lesson plans aligned with Alberta curriculum standards
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to improve understanding
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and educators
- Encourage engagement and participation in a supportive learning atmosphere
- Use diverse teaching resources to accommodate different learning styles
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of tutoring or teaching experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with the Alberta curriculum (preferred)
- Strong communication skills (excellent verbal and written communication)
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and motivate students
- Patience, empathy, and passion for helping students succeed
- Familiarity with various educational tools and technologies is a plus
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to commute to in-person tutoring sessions (required)
- Must live in Calgary, AB, Canada at the time of application
- Candidates must be able to work a minimum of two shifts per week
- Must complete a criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening
- Fluent in English and/or French. Bilingual (English + French) candidates are strongly preferred — indicate language proficiency in your application
- Availability on weeknights (typically 4:00 – 9:00 PM) and some weekends as needed
Schedule & Pay
Typical Availability:
- Monday–Thursday: 4:00–8:00 PM
- Friday: 2:00–6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Expected Hours: 2–35 hours per week
Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
